DRY/ WET ROT & TIMBER TREATMENT
KEEP YOUR HOME ROT AND INFESTATION FREE
Timber is often one of the main materials used to construct a building, so it’s really important to look after it. Houses of all ages can be affected by rot (fungal decay) and other infestations, such as insect invasions. Treating your property's timber, to keep it rot and infestation free can feel like a minefield at times.
We will give you honest and accurate information and help you to identify what the problem is, how much it will cost to fix and how long any work or treatment will take.
Does your timber PROBLEM
look like this?
Woodworm is a generic word for wood boring beetles. Common Furniture Beetle is the most wide spread wood boring beetle found in British buildings.
Woodworm can affect any timbers in your home, so if you notice any holes in the floorboards, skirting boards, doors or any other timber with dust next to the holes - it may be an active woodworm infestation.
Dry rot is by far the most damaging type of fungi found in buildings.
It may also be brittle or warped and you may notice a cotton-wool-like growth, called mycelium.
Dry rot can start in unseen areas, such as attics, lofts, floorboards or stairs – or in leaky areas around washing machines, shower trays or baths.
Wet rot occurs when timber gets damp. Wood appears cracked, with a deeper colour and sponge-like texture.
Water under suspended floors increases the chance of fungal decay in floor timbers.
Floorboards may feel springy, the air is musty and cobweb-like strands appear across the wood.
